The Wake
steakhouse and seafood
The honest one-liner
The Wake is Virgin Voyages’ signature steak and seafood restaurant at the back of the ship, built around classic dishes, a dramatic setting and some of the best ocean views onboard.
At a glance
  • Cuisine: steak and seafood
  • Vibe: classic upscale dining without formality
  • Where: aft of the ship with wake-facing views from many seats
  • When: dinner and also brunch on sea days depending on your sailing
  • Booking: reservations recommended, walk-ins can work if you time it right
What makes The Wake different
This is the most traditional fine dining experience on Virgin, but it still stays relaxed. No dining packages, no dress codes that make you feel like you brought the wrong shoes.
The design is the point too. The Wake sits at the aft in a large space with a grand staircase and an old-school steakhouse feel translated into Virgin’s style.
What to expect
Dinner is where The Wake does what it’s known for: premium steak cuts, seafood mains and classic sides in a proper sit-down setting.
Breakfast and brunch is the sleeper hit. If you like classic dishes with a slightly elevated finish, The Wake is a very easy win. Typical picks include steak and eggs and eggs Benedict and at brunch the menu expands into steak-forward options.
Who The Wake suits
Book The Wake if you want:
  • A classic steakhouse style meal
  • A quieter dining room feel
  • A table with a view and a more traditional service rhythm
You can skip it if you prefer:
  • Faster casual dining
  • Something more experimental or chef-led
Red Wave recommendation
  • If you care about the view, book early and ask for wake-facing seating. The Wake is at the back of the ship and not every table gets the same outlook.
  • Use The Wake for a sea day brunch if your sailing offers it. It’s calmer and it feels like a proper treat without needing a big plan.
  • Do not panic if you missed reservations. Virgin’s app limits advance bookings per restaurant based on voyage length, but extra availability often appears onboard and walk-ins can sometimes work.
